'ACT ONE' Gets Theatrical Run at Malco Studio on the Square
The results are in: 'ACT ONE,' the award-winning film directed by local filmmaker Brad Ellis and produced by Old School Pictures
begins an exclusive run at Malco Studio on the Square starting
today, February 17th, and is scheduled to play four shows daily
throughout the week.
October 2005 was a highlight when ACT ONE won the Hometowner Best Feature award at
Indie Memphis to the tune of a sold-out audience and a standing
ovation. Malco's deal marks an even greater accomplishment
for the filmmakers, which include the Co-Founders of Grade One Entertainment.
John
Moore and Brian
Churchill both earned producer credits for their contributions to
the project with Moore as the film's lighting designer and
Churchill donating his production studio's resources, most
notably in post production during audio sweetening and dialogue
replacement.
After the film's success at Indie Memphis Brian put on his
producer cap serving as liaison between Old School Pictures and
Malco theaters, and brokered the deal for
the run. Brian was also responsible for rounding up
sponsors for the film, including Cornerstone Media, Gardo Design
Group, and his video production company, Churchill
Studios. He also arranged a generous sponsorship with
the film's largest sponsor, Time Warner Cable, who donated a
significant amount of television spot airtime to promote the
film.
As of press time ACT ONE had earned very positive reviews from
the city's two major film critics at the Commercial Appeal and
the Memphis Flyer. For tickets and show times visit www.malco.com.
